IJ is a British writer with a long academic and personal appreciation for American history and culture, strengthened by repeated visits to the U.S. He has been writing creatively in one form or another since he was a child, first practicing his story-craft by improvising adventure tales around the fireplace with his grandfather, to having his stories read out in class during his school years.
He moved into screenwriting and filmmaking after graduating from university, and worked in various production office and crew roles in the film and television industry for several years, including Doctor Who and Sherlock. In recent years IJ has moved back to writing novels and novellas, as well as becoming an academic in the field of International Relations and Security Studies.
DARK RIVER was his first published novel, and the first to feature Amanda Northstar, the sheriff of Independence, a fictional town and county on the banks of the Hudson River, inspired by his wonderful visits to many of the towns and villages of the region, as well as the Catskill Mountains. The second book in the Amanda Northstar mysteries series, HEADS WILL ROLL', soon followed.
IJ later commenced the Queens of the Steal series of crime-thriller novellas focusing on the four Archer sisters, who return from exile to New York City to avenge a family tragedy by forming their own slick heist crew and pulling off a range of audacious scores in their quest for revenge.
Recently, IJ has launched the Legends of the Wraiths series, beginning with Storm-Wraith. These series of novellas are fast paced action-fantasy, effectively comic-books in written form for those who, like IJ, enjoy escapist superhero yarns and stories about the battle between good and evil.
